FAQ
What does the data come from?
What is the Universe of Stocks?
The total universe of supported stocks is all stocks listed on U.S. exchanges with marketcaps above 300 Million.
How often is data updated?
All accounting ratios such as Price-to-Earnings and Price-to-Sales are based on company earnings reports which are released quarterly and also marketcap. Theory A checks for earnigns data weekly to keep up to date with the latest earnings and updates marketcap and prices daily.
What is a Decile?
In statistics, a decile is any of the 10 values that divide the sorted data into ten equal parts, so that each part represents 1/10 of the sample or population. For example, to be in the first decile is to be in the top 10% of the group based on an ordering.
Below, stocks are ranked from lowest P/E ratio to high and the top 10% of lowest P/E ratios are green while the stocks with the highest 10% of P/E ratios are red.
The order is however arbitrary. We rank low P/E ratio stocks as green becuase they are "cheaper" and have more "value". For the same reason, EBITDA/EV is ranked from largest to smallest as a larger number indicates more value.
